Chef Wadzi

Wadzanayi Samantha Chitambo

Born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. Her passion for culinary arts started in her early adolescent years whereby she used to watch her mother prepare worldly meals for the family, bake birthday and wedding cakes as part of her bakery business in Zimbabwe. Wadzi then took up Food and Nutrition as a practical subject during her secondary schooling years and here she gained the basics of cooking and became more inquisitive about the culinary arts.

Wadzi went on to pursue her tertiary education in Hospitality Management majoring in subjects like Gastronomy, Food and Beverage, Advanced Wine Studies. This fine tuned her palette as she globe trotted around the world following the Bachelor programme at multiple campus sites of Stenden University in Bali; Indonesia, The Netherlands and Thailand. The ability to study and work around the world gave Wadzi the experience and broad interpretation of flavor she carries and showcases in her menus to date. She has been trained from an apprentice level chef in Europe in a world class kitchen by renowned Dutch Chef Albert Kooy and in Australia by hatted chefs.

Wadzi has climbed the kitchen ladder from 2013 working in Alila hotels and Resorts in Bali as a commis chef. Wadzi has since worked for Delaware North - Melbourne Olympic Park and then Etihad Stadium catering in private players lounges for famous tennis players during the Aus opens in 2018 and 2019. 3 - 5 star hotel categories of the Accor hotel Brands in Melbourne, to name a few Novotel Melbourne Central, Hotel Lindrum Melbourne - M Gallery and Pullman and Mercure on Albert Park where she rose to the position of Sous Chef, - reporting to the Executive chef and leading the banqueting hot and cold kitchens, Windows restaurant kitchen and a team of 30 chefs as well as kitchen stewards. Here she has had the pleasure of catering to a number of AFL and Formula 1 racing teams.

Wadzi then moved to the Yarra Valley to work at Hubert Estate in 2022 where she became Head Chef and was incharge of leading the wedding venue Harriett that housed up to 210 guests for a series of bespoke events and weddings.

Wadzi has now embarked on a journey to bring you a range of flavors to your dining table, from comfort food that can be shared with your loved ones to fine dining.
